💪 Featured Productivity Tool

The empty inbox.

David Allen is one of the OGs when it comes to productivity. In his bestseller, Getting Things Done, one of the first things he talks about is the inbox.

Firstly, the inbox is an easy place to dump any non-urgent thing as it arrives. At the end of the day (or during a set block of time), your goal is to go through the inbox and make a decision on everything in the inbox until it is empty.

Delegate and eliminate first.

Follow the 2 minute rule: if you need 2 minutes or less to complete the task - do it now. If it takes more than two minutes, schedule the time later (soon) to address it and complete it. (If there are multiple steps, Allen suggests calling this a “project.”)

This is a simple concept, but it can be surprisingly difficult to accomplish!

This is dated, but it really put into perspective for me what’s going on at the edge of space.

😌 Decision-making Idea

Things that aren’t your fault can still be your responsibility.

It’s completely fine and natural to be upset over unfair situations, but if you can remember that you still have the responsibility to take action, then you are in a place of power. You’re in a place to not be a victim of circumstance.

Example: On your way home from work, you accidentally run over a nail, and now your tire is leaking air. Is this your fault? No.

It is your responsibility to fix it? Yes.

The next time you find yourself in a situation that effects you but you didn’t cause it, remember that you have the ability to respond any way you want, even if your emotions initially get the better of you.

🧠 Quote of the Week

"You don't get to have a meaningful career or raise a family or leave the world a better place without stress and discomfort. Discomfort is the price of admission to a meaningful life."

Susan David

What I think: Something I hold as a law of life is that we’re here to grow and to help others grow. I’ve had quite a few episodes in my life - quite a few make or break moments too. I had to learn the hard way to choose my attitude and my response to the stress of life. I’ve since become thankful for all the events of my life. They have all somehow nudged me or pushed me to the the person I am today.

What about you?

Thank you so much for spending some of you precious time with me. 🙂

I’m always looking to improve, so hit “reply” and let me know what you think!

Have an awesome week.

Sincerely,

Steven Sanders
